Daniel Freaker

Daniel Freaker received his MA in Fine Art, History and Theory of Art from the Slade in 2000. His work sits between figurative and abstract spaces. The marks are gestural and the paint is used in different ways to create a rich tapestry of textures, movement and a sense of fluidity. Amongst the marks are recognisable forms; people, natural forms and architecture. These remind us of places we may have seen in our own pasts or in films, yet they are distorted in colour and luminosity. This gives the audience a sense of familiarity, but also an uncanny feeling that is hard to place.
